U.S.-based shipping company Foremost Group celebrated its 60th anniversary as a trusted industry leader serving first-class ship charterers, operators, and end-users worldwide. In noting this milestone, hundreds of distinguished guests flew in from all around the world to attend the celebration at the Harvard Club of New York City.

The International Leadership Foundation and the Coalition of Asian American Business Organizations held the 2022 ILF Leadership and Business conference on July 28, 2022. Dr. James S. C. Chao was awarded the Person of the Year Award. The Honorable Elaine L. Chao accepted the award on behalf of Dr. Chao.

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, well known and much respected philanthropist Dr. James S. C. Chao, and Secretary Elaine Chao, the first Asian American woman ever appointed to the President’s cabinet are Grand Marshals to lead the first ever Asian Pacific American (APA) Heritage Parade in New York City.  

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), with over a century of commitment to cancer research, has significantly contributed through public awareness, funding research, and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration. The Chao Family Foundations enhanced this mission by funding AACR Women in Cancer Research's Career Mentoring Sessions, supporting the professional development of young women in the field.

The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Board of Trustees will be bestowing an Honorary Doctorate of Public Administration on Dr. James S.C. Chao. The degree will be conferred at the Academy’s commencement exercises, to be held June 23, 2018.

On May 23, Lloyd’s List Americas held its annual Awards Gala to honor excellence in the maritime industry. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Dr. James S.C. Chao, Founder and Honorary Chairman of Foremost Group.

Named in honor of Angela’s mother, Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, this initiative is housed within the Carnegie Tsinghua Center’s Young Ambassadors Program.
